Press release - NNZ has been awarded the title "Royal"

Special recognition for unique Groningen “company with a family”

Groningen, 6 February 2023 – In honour of its 100-year anniversary, the company, NNZ,  has been awarded the title of “Koninklijk” (Royal) by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander. In front of colleagues, relatives and close family, CEO Len Boot was presented with the certificate by René Paas, the King’s Commissioner for the province of Groningen, on 6 February 2023.

CEO Len Boot, third generation in the family business: “Everyone at NNZ feels proud and honoured that from now on we can use the name ‘Royal NNZ Group bv’. The privilege of using the title “Royal” crowns 100 years of family entrepreneurship, consideration for others and dedication in every aspect.”

Royal title
The honorary title of “Koninklijk” symbolises the King’s respect, appreciation and trust  for the recipient. A company, association, institution or foundation can apply for this title, if it has existed for at least 100 years. Its directors must behave impeccably at all times, as must the company itself. Companies that receive the title may incorporate the Royal Dutch Crown in their logo.

About NNZ
Special recognition for a “company with a family”
The company celebrated its centenary on 22 October 2022. As of 2023, the company has 260 employees, operating in 24 fully owned subsidiaries in 18 countries, and works with an international network of partners in more than 50 countries around the world. NNZ primarily focuses on packaging materials for the fruit and vegetable sector and invests heavily in industrial packaging materials in Benelux, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. The focus of NNZ’s revenue model can be found in its standard of service as an independent adviser, its innovative strength in the area of new products, and its function as a warehousing centre for its international network. As a socially driven company, NNZ is a pioneer in this field with its own family charter – which includes many safeguards for employee input and the company’s continuity. “We are a company with a family” is the fitting motto of this people-based business.

Inspiration for our sustainability mission, “Reshaping Packaging”
Formulating a mission statement is one thing, living by and acting on it, is quite another. NNZ makes a tangible commitment to sustainability and embraces specific UN Sustainability Development Goals to this end. The organisation also embraces the objective of the EU’s New Circular Economy Action Plan from March 2020. This plan is one of the key components of the European Green Deal, Europe’s programme for sustainable growth. NNZ aims to make all packaging reusable or recyclable in an economically viable way by 2030. Our biggest challenge for the future: transforming the packaging world into a fully circular value chain. “Reshaping packaging for a better world” is our guiding principle, and to that end, we dedicate our passion and professionalism. OR our passion, professionalism and persistence.
